About D.L. Stern
Dan has been creating, producing, writing, and editing nonfiction programming for 15 years. Much of his work has aired internationally on the National Geographic Channel including the BANFF-nominated feature Bounty Hunters, and the network’s highest-rated returning series Alaska State Troopers. More recently Dan co-directed and produced the critically acclaimed, award-winning, feature-length doc Give Us This Day, which is currently airing on Starz.
A storyteller at heart, and always looking for his next creative adventure, Dan chose to bring his creative and producing chops to the world of commercials where he has found as much, if not more satisfaction in being able to tell the stories of companies, their products and services, their end-users, and their customers in the short form. Working with large organizations, small nonprofits, and individuals; Dan fosters the perfect fusion of true doc-style storytelling and sophisticated narrative-driven production. Dan lives in Northern California with his wife Nikki, their 6-year old son Jackson, and their 2 labs - Kula and Makena.
A note from Dan:
Storytelling has always been a big part of my life. Growing up, my love of film led me to direct many home movies. Later on, my love of listening to people tell their own stories led me to pursue a career as a documentary filmmaker. Today, there are many slick ways to captivate an audience in television, movies, commercials, and short web videos. But, whether we're watching on our big screen TVs, computers, tablets, or phones, the common and essential element in any successful project remains – story is the most important thing. Story is and always will be king for me.
I’d love to hear your story.
