Dave Gardner is a Renaissance man of sorts - he writes, he draws, he paints, he surfs, he skates, he works odd jobs, and he works with kids. Recently, with the help of a close friend, Dave illustrated his very first children’s book “The Adventures of the Salty Little Sliders”. The book is a culmination of his rich life experience that inspires kids to take a break from screens, get out there and mix it up with other people and nature - to experience the world around them. Dave often ponders the question, “How best to live this life?” To us, it seems like he’s already living it.

Stand Alone Tile | Aaron Clark

Aaron Clark is a screen printer by trade and an artist by nature. He created Stand Alone Tile in 2013 as a way to fuse art, screen printing and ceramics together to create an original style of visual art. For this piece, we spent two days with Aaron at his shop in Santa Cruz and his home up in the redwoods of Felton, California. We explored his inspiration, his unique, detailed, and very time-consuming process he navigates for every handmade piece of art he produces.

Officer Down Apparel | Our story

When his friend was killed in the line of duty, Jeremy Gold knew he had to do something. To honor his friend and the other countless number of law enforcement officers killed while doing their jobs, Jeremy started an apparel line that finances a service center for law enforcement in Sacramento, CA. A percentage of the proceeds from the sale of clothing and merchandise goes to the families of fallen officers. We spent the day with Jeremy at the service center to help him tell this important story.

Lucas Ohio | Don’t Miss That Phone

We dropped in while americana band Lucas Ohio was recording their 4th album "The Owl House Sessions". The album was aptly named as the band recorded the tracks in a barn Lucas' grandfather built in the 1920's that he calls the "Owl House". The song Don't Miss That Phone speaks to among other things, the constant battle we are in between time spent on our smartphones and the important stuff in life.
